Posture is vitally important when it comes to walking properly and not damaging your back. We often acquire very bad habits when walking that can be a real health problem in the future. So when you walk you should have your head up straight, your back straight and your chin looking up. If you are able to maintain that position, your spine will be straight and this will also eliminate pressure from your diaphragm enabling you to breathe better. Whenever you walk be aware of your posture and never slouch. This type of bad posture is very common and harmful to health.

When you walk you should also pay attention to your shoulders. Although the most important movements when you walk are those of your legs and core, you should pay attention to your upper body. Keep your shoulders back and relaxed because that way your spine remains stable and straight as you walk. This will make you minimize pressure on your back when walking, avoiding future injuries. Aside from having a great and healthy posture you will show strength and security with every step.

Another part of the body you should never forget is your arms. You have to balance them while walking. Although it is supposed to be a natural movement of the body, if that is not the case let your arms hang spontaneously without stiffness. Your arms should swing to the rhythm of your steps. And this makes your steps effective, walking with maximum energy. Do not put your hands in your pockets, you should always have your arms around your body and balanced, so you will walk faster and get less tired.
